Community Guidelines

Colchester.Network is a professional community built on trust, mutual respect, and genuine helpfulness. These guidelines exist to protect the quality of the community for every paying member.

1. Be Professional, Be Human

Professional tone, but not corporate. Be yourself. Be helpful. Share what you know. If someone asks a question you can answer, take a moment to help. The more you give, the more you get back.

2. No Unsolicited Pitching

Don't DM members with sales pitches. Don't post thinly veiled advertisements in discussion spaces. Use the Opportunity Board to describe what you need — not what you sell.

3. No Spam or Self-Promotion

Sharing your work in context is fine. Repeated posting about your services is not. If someone asks for a recommendation and you can help — great. Otherwise, let opportunities come to you through the directory and opportunity board.

4. No MLM or Network Marketing

This is a non-negotiable.

5. Keep It Respectful

Disagreement is healthy. Personal attacks, discrimination, and bullying are not. Treat every member the way you'd want to be treated.

6. No Political or Religious Arguments

Save it for somewhere else.

7. Protect Confidentiality

What's shared in Honest Hour stays there. Don't share members' contact details externally.

8. Report, Don't Retaliate

If you see something that breaks these guidelines, report it. Don't engage. Use the report button or contact us directly. We take reports seriously and handle them promptly.

9. Respect Privacy

Don't screenshot or share private conversations (DMs, Honest Hour) outside the community. Don't share other members' business details without their permission.

Enforcement

We use a three-strike approach: first offence gets a private warning, second gets a 7-day suspension, third is a permanent ban. Severe violations (hate speech, threats, harassment) result in an immediate ban.

If you believe a moderation decision was made in error, you can appeal by replying to the warning message or emailing the Community Manager.
